Christos Costarellos launched his Athens-based fashion house in 1998. The German-born designer is known for both his ready-to-wear and bridal collections with looks inspired by Ancient Greek philosophy and mythology. With fashion in his DNA, both his parents worked in the industry, sparking his interest in the world of clothing. He studied at the Dimitrelis School of Fashion and, subsequently, the London College of Fashion, where he honed his technical skills and passion.
Known for his exquisite craftsmanship, couture techniques, modern silhouettes and strong use of color, Costarellos design language is elegant and bold in character. Fluently spoken with a beauty that is ethereal and romantic, characterized by flowing fabrics, elaborate prints, sensual cuts and delicate embroideries.
Costarellos celebrates the quality and traditions of Hellenic sewing and weaving traditions. The brand’s aesthetic is based on the fluidity and femininity of the draped Grecia silhouette, blending delicate materials with beautiful finishings in a vibrant Mediterranean tone. Each collection is infused with references drawn from Greek culture; fluid drapery and artisanal folds, traditional folk embroidery, structured Minoan-style corsets and traditional Reticella lace, creating a link between ethereal antiquity and modern-day sensibility.
Each piece is individually designed, cut and hand-finished in the brand’s atelier in Athens, using only the finest European fabrics. Each dress or gown tells a story about the woman who wears it and the special occasions she wears it to. Featuring airy designs full of sheer lace, cut-out bodices and traditional silhouettes. Lace sourced from Europe infuses an old-world touch into some of the gowns, while silky satin modernizes others. The collections exudes romance, and embodies a classical, understated elegance with bold femininity and sensuality.
